5 - Butakovskiy waterfall

Butakovsky waterfall is one of the largest waterfalls located near the city of Almaty. The waterfall is located at an altitude of 2159 meters.

The road of medium difficulty from Medeu to the waterfall is 6 km. The first half of the road lies through a pass covered with mixed forest. The second half passes in the valley along the mountain river. There is a fairly well-maintained area with gazebos and benches.

4 - Ayusay river gorge

The entrance to the Ayusay Gorge is located next to the Ayusay Visitor Center, which can be reached by car or on foot (1.5 kilometers from the bus stop in front of the dam). There are three waterfalls along the gorge. The most beautiful is located 2.5 kilometers from the entrance to the gorge.

The road goes along the mountain river periodically crossing it. The road is dangerous in places, you need to be careful not to slip from a height.

The Gorelnik Gorge and its waterfalls are one of the most picturesque and easily accessible places in the mountains of Almaty. In my personal opinion, this is the best route for beginners.

The height of the peak Three Brothers is 2860 meters. From the top of the Three Brothers, a stunning view of Almaty opens up. Unfortunately, most of the time of the year there is smog over the city, which spoils the picture a little.

On the way to the top, there is the Kok-Zhailau plateau - a very popular place for outdoor recreation among Almaty residents. Therefore, it is better to walk along this route on weekdays, otherwise you will have to go in a string of people.
